This CP describes a red, non-combustible sealant with fireblocking properties provided by a sodium silicate intumescent. This non-elastomeric mortar-type caulk cures by evaporation of water and is designed to meet ASTM E-136 requirements for non-combustible materials. The non-combustible specification is common for one- and two-family construction and non-rated assemblies in multi-family and commercial construction. The caulk can be used as a draft, smoke, and fireblocking sealant around ducting, electrical, and plumbing penetrations. Suitable substrates include wood, masonry, and steel. This type of sealant is not recommended where there is continuous vibration or in areas expected to come into contact with water or high humidity.
