This list contains an inventory of substances authorized in Title 21 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR) for uses in contact with foods. Food Contact Substances (FCSs) includes indirect food additives listed under 21 CFR Parts 175-178, 179.45, and 180.22, secondary direct additives listed in 21 CFR 173, prior-sanctioned food ingredients listed in 21 CFR 181, and substances affirmed as generally recognized as safe listed in 21 CFR 186. 1.
