Oil-based penetrating wood sealers are interior and exterior products used to control the moisture content of wood and protect against UV and microbial degradation. They are primarily composed of drying oils, which harden or cure when exposed to ambient air and protect against damage from moisture. Additional protection is provided by alkyd resin binders. These materials are solventborne and products typically contain high quantities of solvents that evaporate after application. This CP covers products that are clear or transparent, with UV protection provided by transparent oxide pigments that lend little-to-no color or opacity.
