Firestop joint spray is used as a fire-rated sealant in wall to wall, floor to wall, floor to floor, head of wall, curtain wall perimeter, and other construction joint applications. The dried firestop material remains elastomeric to accomodate use in both static and dynamic joints. Generally, mineral wool is packed into the gaps and the spray coating is applied at 1/8" wet thickness over the insulation and adjacent substrates. The most common product type, water-based acrylic, is outlined in this CP.
