More about Historical Common Product: Homogenous Rubber Sheet Flooring - Virgin Rubber
A single layered vulcanized rubber floor with decorative colored rubber granules held together with a polymeric binder, and protected with a layer of polyurethane finish as a surface coat. The rubber base polymer and the colored granules can both be sourced from post-industrial or post-consumer content. Post-consumer recycled rubber - also known as crumb rubber - is sourced from recycled automobile tires and can contain elevated levels of lead and other contaminants. This CP describes a homogeneous rubber sheet floor made without crumb rubber. The percentage of the floor attributable to the granules varies between products, from near zero percent (a nearly black floor) to approaching 100% in floors that have almost no black background at all. The surface may be smooth or embossed with texture, and commonly contain a polyurethane topcoat. Rubber formulations are highly variable and largely proprietary.
