Pipe thread sealant is used to seal threaded pipe joints and lubricate and protect threads. The sealant in this CP is a non-hardening, non-setting (non-drying) sealant with PTFE. The non-setting sealant can be used in service where immediate pressurization is necessary and allows for easy disassembly of joints without damage to pipe or threads. The PTFE contributes a low coefficient of friction which allows for tighter joint makeup with lower torque. These sealants are used for threaded metal piping (including steel and copper) as well as some threaded plastic piping. The pipe thread sealant can be used in a variety of applications, including plumbing and fire sprinker systems.
