More about Water-based Penetrating Grout Sealer (Water and Oil Repelling)
Grout sealers are applied to cement-based grout to repel water and prevent them from turning gray over time. They are not required for grout that has been stained or for epoxy grouts since both repel water as well. Grout sealers are classified as either topical or penetrating. Topical sealers repel most substances, but give the grout a plastic appearance. Penetrating sealers chemically bond with the grout to repel water, and do not change its appearance. Penetrating sealers can be either solvent-based or water-based. The former contain a high percentage of organic solvents and are beyond the scope of this CP. This Common Product describes a water-based penetrating sealer designed to repel both water and oil. To view the Common Product for water-based grout sealers not designed to repel oil click here.
