This CP describes an unfinished hollow core door with wood veneer facings. These doors tend to be more affordable, but less durable, than solid core alternatives. Despite their name, "hollow core" doors do have some internal support structure, most typically a paper honeycomb stiffened with resin. Composite wood rails and stiles provide dimensional stability along the top, bottom, and vertical edges. Thin sheets of hardwood wood veneer are adhered with wood glue to the honeycomb core to simulate the look of solid wood. While some doors may be specified to be made with no formaldehyde materials, these are not yet standard. This CP does not include hinges, knobs or other hardware.
