Siliconized latex sealants, also called siliconized latex caulk, are a variation of standard acrylic latex. In these formulations, manufacturers add small proportions of silanes or silicone fluid to enhance adhesion under wet conditions. Like standard acrylic latex, and unlike silicone sealants which are chemically cured, siliconized acrylic sealants cure from water evaporation. They can be used in interior and exterior applications such as around window trim, filling gaps in windows and doors, and sealing kitchen and bathroom fixtures. They may be used on a variety of substrates including vinyl, aluminum, and wood.
